Most clients meet with Dr. Cascalheira once per week, particularly in the earlier and more intensive phases of treatment. Session frequency is always determined collaboratively based on your treatment plan, clinical needs, and life circumstances, and may be adjusted as therapy progresses. Some clients shift to biweekly sessions as they move toward their goals, while others benefit from a consistent weekly rhythm throughout.

Dr. Cascalheira brings together a rare combination of clinical depth, research expertise, and genuine cultural responsiveness that is difficult to find in a single provider. He is a licensed psychologist with a PhD in counseling psychology, a research portfolio spanning 50+ peer-reviewed publications, and nearly a decade of clinical experience across diverse treatment settings. His approach is not a single modality applied to everyone — it is a thoughtful, individualized integration of evidence-based practices, anchored in relational-cultural therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy, and tailored to who you are and what you need. He attends to the full person: your history, your relationships, your values, your body, your culture, and your ambitions. He is also deeply committed to serving people who have historically been underserved or unseen by mainstream mental health care, including LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, and high-achieving adults carrying invisible burdens. At Urban Insight, PLLC, you will not be managed. You will be met.
-
The length of treatment varies depending on your goals, the nature of your concerns, and the progress you make along the way. Some clients achieve meaningful change in a focused, short-term course of therapy. Others engage in longer-term work as they pursue deeper exploration or more complex goals. Dr. Cascalheira monitors progress throughout and will work with you to develop a plan for ending treatment when the time is right. There is no predetermined endpoint; the work moves at the pace that serves you best.
